For sheet and plate, the calculator uses:

Length × Width × Thickness × Material Density

For bars, tubes, and angles, the calculator applies the right shape formula before calculating weight.

How do you calculate the weight of a steel plate?

To calculate steel plate weight, multiply length by width by thickness to get volume, then multiply by the density of steel. Mild steel is commonly estimated at 7,850 kg/m³.

What is the formula for metal weight?

The basic formula is:

Weight = Volume × Density

The volume formula changes depending on the shape. A plate uses length × width × thickness, while a round bar uses π × radius² × length.

Can I use this as an aluminium weight calculator?
